18 January 2018 in Showcase News
Ireland’s vibrant fashion and jewellery design scene is home to many sophisticated brands who are capable of delivering beautiful, quality products at the volumes required to fulfil large order requirements.
Many of the brands exhibiting at Showcase 2018 are stocked across all sectors of retail - from small shops and large department stores to in-flight shopping boutiques and Duty Free outlets worldwide. With less than a week to go before the opening of Showcase 2018, we highlight four brands in the fashion and jewellery categories that are based in Ireland and can cater to a variety of retailer requirements without compromising on quality or aesthetics.
Irelands Eye Knitwear Ltd
Over the course of the past 40 years, Irelands Eye Knitwear has firmly established its reputation as a family company designing beautiful, quality products in Dublin city. Irelands Eye products are now stocked in premium and heritage stores across Ireland as well as in over 20 countries worldwide.
Key to the company’s success has been strong business acumen alongside a keen sense of design which draws on the heritage of Irish knitwear yet has global appeal.
The company is also committed to the production of garments that are as comfortable as they are beautiful, and they firmly believe that their knitwear should be warm and comfortable to wear. The fourth generation of the O’Sullivan family is now involved in the business which creates quality Irish knitwear, finished by hand in Dublin.
The Irelands Eye 2018/2019 collection features luxurious sweaters, cardigans, coatigans, accessories and throws along with stylish Aran Knits that fuse the best of Ireland’s traditional heritage with contemporary design and fit.
Juvi was established in 2004 and is stocked in major department stores such as House of Fraser (Irish and UK stores), the Kilkenny stores and Avoca as well as in famous Irish jewellers Weir & Sons and many other retailers both in Ireland and overseas. The company is run by husband and wife team Vincent Tynan
and Julie Danz.
Launching at Showcase 2018 and in-store from Spring 2018, is Juvi Design’s new Manhattan Collection - a stunning Art Deco style collection inspired by Julie Danz’s time spent in the city where she worked as an interior designer.
“Inspired by my time in New York, where skyscrapers tower and style is key to living the urban Manhattan lifestyle, Juvi's Manhattan Collection for SS18 pays tribute to the confident and sophisticated New York Art Deco scene,” says the designer. “Using luxuriously rich coloured gemstones with gorgeous light-catching facets set into elegant sterling silver and gold vermeil designs, it's definitely a collection that evokes the same kind of awe and wonder as the magical city of dreamers.”
The Jack Murphy Outdoor brand was established in 1922 and is committed to bringing a quality range of outdoor and urban clothing to its loyal Irish and international client base. Renowned for its stylish but practical rainwear, the company has expanded their collection to a range of accessories for both men and women.
Being a uniquely Irish company, its designers take inspiration from ever-changing weather patterns of Ireland. The Jack Murphy collection is fully adaptable and affords protection from sudden downpours of rain or from the biting wind whilst cutting a dash in the rural or urban landscape. Apart from its popular Autumn and Winter range, Jack Murphy Outdoor Ltd. also produces a collection for Spring/ Summer each year which, in keeping with their designs for the Autumn/ Winter season, are characterised by well-tailored looks, unique jacket linings and thoughtful detailing on buttons and clasps.
The company is a wholly-owned Irish brand which is stocked across Ireland, the UK and on mainland Europe. The US is a growing market for the brand and the company is also seeing a growing sales base online via their webstore.
While just four years old, Jo Harpur Jewellery has fast-tracked to success and Jo's range of jewellery is available for purchase on Aer Lingus and South African Airlines, as well as in various fashion-forward boutiques around Ireland and in stockists in the United States.
Jo’s most recent collection is her Initial and Birthstone collection which she is showing at this year’s expo. With personalisation continuing to be a trend in retail, the Dublin-based jewellery designer has just launched her new range of initial disc pendants which are available in sterling silver with gold plating. Featuring genuine Swarovski stones and a Celtic-style font, the gemstones on each necklace are available in the twelve birthstones of the year. Each neckpiece, including the personal birthstone, retails at €70.
“I am very excited about these new pieces. They are modern, easy to wear and lightweight. I was inspired by Celtic designs, mystic old Irish writing and historic scriptures which led me to feature these ideas on the discs which are engraved by hand,” says designer Jo Harpur. “I have always been interested in birthstones and I believe there is truth in the legend that wearing your own birthstone can lead to an abundance of luck, health and happiness."
