Gráinne Kenny is a Textile Designer from Gorey in Co. Wexford. Gráinne specializes in mixed media textile art & resin jewelry, that is inspired by shorelines along Ireland’s Ancient East and The Wild Atlantic Way. Colour plays a significant role in the creation of her work and a love for texture which is captured beautifully in her textile seascapes. Surface embellishments from gold leaf, glass seed beads and seashells adorn her work. Set up since 2012, her work has appeared in various press publications from The Irish Times Magazine, House and Home Magazine and Irish Tatler to name a few. She uses quality materials such as linens, silks, wools and cottons amongst other unusual materials that she sources within Ireland and worldwide. In 2018, Gráinne introduced at Showcase, her jewellery range of pendants that are inspired by the colours of her ‘Sea-studies’ which is the name that she calls her body of textile artworks. In 2019, Gráinne is introducing a new collection of ‘Sunset studies’ introducing warmer colours from reds, oranges and purple tones into her work as well as a new body of sea studies in two new sized frames to add to her existing collection. A new jewelry line inspired by both sea and sky will be launched at Showcase 2019. Gráinne is registered with the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and is a member of Wexford Craft Trail.
